Glycolic acid peel

Glycolic acid is extracted from sugar beet. It removes the top layer of dead skin cells creating a new layer of skin which will have a softer texture and looks fresher. There are little to no side effects and the treatment is virtually painless.

In which situations do we apply Glycolic Acid Peel?

  • Skin acne after any scars
  • Oily skin
  • Pores
  • Outdated skin; to give the skin a smoother appearance
  • Smoking Skin

For the first glycolic acid peel treatment we always apply a lower concentration of 30%. This is safer because you never know how your skin will react to the treatment. Skin that responds well to a glycolic acid peel, exhibits little to no side effects. However, the treated skin will be very dry for a while, but these are normal reactions to the peel. This dryness can be solved with a good moisturiser. Please note that some days you'll have to rub your skin several times a day. Otherwise it can begin to flake. If you are very sensitive to a glycolic acid peel, your skin may be slightly red.

As soon as the skin is used to the 30% concentration, we increase the concentration to 50% or 70%.

Most people experience no pain or discomfort during the glycolic acid peel treatment. However, it is possible that the skin can become more sensitive after a period of several peels and thus can start to irritate, especially while the peeling is being washed off using water.

A glycolic acid peel provides after two to three treatments visible results: fine lines, skin tightens the production of new collagen, facial contours are lifted, skin discolourations disappear and the skin looks a lot more radiant. These are naturally beautiful results. A glycolic acid peel is not as effective as Botox or Hyaluronic Acid. If you wish, we can advise you about these treatments during a non-binding consultation.

Normally, it will required an average of 4 to 8 treatments in order to achieve good result. These treatments begin on weekly/bi-weekly basis and decrease over time. It is advisable to avoid direct sunlight and during the treatment! While outside, be sure to protect your skin with a high-factor sunscreen.
